We Can Control Our Sexuality

Sometimes when we give our reasons for having multple concurrent partners, we imply that the situation is out of our control. Many times, we have explained having multiple concurrent partners with:

  • Men are weak. They can’t stop themselves from wanting women.
  • Being monogamous is against nature.
  • I was drunk/high, and didn’t really know what I was doing.

However, men and women are not animals; we can control our sexuality.  We can choose to not act on feelings of attraction that we may experience for others if we are already in relationships.  We can choose not to put ourselves in situations which make it easier to act on the attraction.

We can choose to have one love and be faithful to that person. And we can choose to drink responsibly, so that we do not make risky sexual decisions while we are intoxicated.

Talk about it

What do you think? Can men and women control their sexuality? Also, share some tips on how to resist temptation from other people when you are in a committed relationship. And how does controlling your sexuality relate to people who are not committed to anyone in particular?
