HIV & AIDS knows no borders and Southern Africa has the highest infection rate in the world. That is why we must work together to turn the tide against the epidemic.
UNTOLD, a series of nine 24-minute stand alone films, aims to do just this.
UNTOLD:
- Tells stories that cross borders
- Entertains and moves people
- Challenges deeply held beliefs
- Gets people to pause, think and act
- Gets people talking about issues that were previously hidden
- The series, which is aimed at young people and adults, was developed in different languages, with English and Portuguese sub-titles.
UNTOLD is part of the OneLove Campaign, the largest locally developed HIV & AIDS prevention communication campaign in Africa. It is also building a community of regional writers and film-makers.
Countries that took part in the UNTOLD initiative are Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia, Mozambique, Malawi, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe. (Click on each country to view scenes from each film).
Girls at Risk
Excerpts from five films in the UNTOLD series were adapted into a 12-minute DVD resource, called Girls At Risk, A Discussion Tool. The resource also includes text that can guide groups for further debate, discussion and action.
Some of the stories in the UNTOLD Series talk about issues that relate to the issue of multiple concurrent partnerships.
Scene from Secrets and Lies
For example, Secrets and Lies highlighting is about a couple who’s marriage is in trouble because they are both having affairs, while Between Friends Friendship tells the story of two women in a business are manipulated by a man into a sexual relationship with him.
