Swaziland Recognises Link Between Low Wages & HIV

Investigative tours of the textile industry by senior government officials recently benefit labour relations and national health concerns, reports The Swazi Observer.

Factors like low workers salaries have been implicated in the spread of HIV in our society.

Simply put: when a female worker cannot earn enough to support her family, she will seek other means to make ends meet. Studies have shown that this in some instances means that workers will exchange sexual favours for food and cash.
