According to StatsSA, the number of people living with HIV/Aids in South Africa has increased by 0.2% from June last year until the same time this year, reports news24.
Releasing the mid-year population report, the government division said the estimated overall HIV/Aids prevalence rate was approximately 10.5% while the total number of people living with the disease was estimated at 5.24 million.
For adults aged between 15 and 49 years, an estimated 17% were infected and the total number of new HIV/Aids infections for 2010 was about 410 000. Of these an estimated 40 000 were in children.
