In Malawi, the abbreviation “MCP” is mostly synonymous with the once all-powerful political party that ruled this country for more than three decades, writes Chinyeke Tembo.
Tembo’s column about MCP and HIV in Malawi was published in Nyasa Times.
He notes that the MCP party is big news all the time and everyone wants to know what is happening to it. Therefore, when Malawian people read a billboard speaking about MCP, they are more likely to want to know more.
“What tickled some of us about MCP as a key driver of HIV and AIDS in Malawi was a paper presented by Simon Sikwese, Pakachere Health Communication and Development Executive Director at the just ended Southern African AIDS Trust (SAT Malawi) Annual Partnership Review meeting at Sun and Sand in Mangochi,” he says.
The full details of the national OneLove campaign in Malawi are not yet available. We will publish them on this site as soon as they are available.

Chinyeke Tembo is about the best authority among journalists in the area of HIV and AIDS Reporting in Malawi. Therefore his artilces have a huge following.
@I noticed:-). It takes a good journalist to generate the kind of discussion that I saw going on, on the article on Nyasa Times.
I plan to link to some of his articles as they come out, so people who visit this site and want to know what’s going on in Malawi can read him.
Chinyeke Tembo is our Program Manager, but now attached to Progressio Hargeisa.Somaliland.
His commitment to HIV and AIDS and Media is unmatched.
