Lusweti Talks About MCP In Buses

swazi-mobile-busThe OneLove Campaign in Swaziland, in partnership with the Swaziland Theatre for Children and Young People (SWATCYP), is conducting mobile discussions with Swaziland’s communities.

The discussions are about about multiple concurrent partnerships, and use a mix of strategies including invisible theatre and the community dialogue.

What is invisible theatre?

Public transport users ( bus users) who are going to a destination that is part of the route of the campaign are first introduced to a a dramatization of the issue.

However, commuters are not aware that the scene is a dramatization. To them it appears as a real scene on the bus. Through the invisible theatre, commuters are exposed to a dramatization of a scenario depicting an MCP related issue.

Following the scene, facilitators engage the bus riders on the drama and related issues using the community dialogue approach. Facilitators are furnished with discussion guides to ensure that the discussion is contained; focuses on topical issues and advances campaign messages.

Bus Routes

Eight bus routes have been identified for the discussions and eight buses. These include:

1. Phumuzakhele traveling from Mbabane to Piggs Peak
2. Siphiwo traveling from Manzini to Motsamo via Buhleni
3. Greansea traveling from Manzini to Hlatikhulu via Sidvokodvoko and Kaphunga

The buses used for this campaign are branded with the campaign messages. A total of 24 mobile discussions will be conducted during this campaign.
