Zimbabwe joined nine other Southern African countries, in launching a regional HIV prevention campaign entitled OneLove. The in-country campaign, which is using the taglines Protect, Respect and Connect, was launched on 3rd June 2009 in Harare.

The five-year campaign started in 2008 and  is to run until 2012. It uses mass media in the form of print, radio, television and Internet to raise awareness on the risks that we face when we have multiple concurrent partnerships.

The campaign also explains how having multiple concurrent partners creates sexual networks, which allow HIV to travel faster from person to person.

Campaign Partners

Zimbabwe’s OneLove Campaign is spearheaded by Action, a partner to a South African based NGO called Soul City Institute for Health and Development Communication, in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Child Welfare and the National AIDS Council (NAC).

Campaign partners also include the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the Southern Africa HIV and Aids Information Dissemination Service (SAFAIDS) and the Zimbabwe AIDS Prevention Services Organisation (ZAPSO).

This booklet will help couples talk to one another and improve their relationship. It is not mainly about HIV. Research has shown that problems in a relationship may lead to risk taking behaviour, which increases a couple’s chance of getting HIV. Read More »
