Club Risky Business is a 10-part drama series that is the centrepiece of the OneLove Kwasila! campaign
HIV prevalence in Zambia remains unacceptably high at 14.3% among 15-49 year olds. New evidence indicates that this high prevalence came about due to the high rate of MCP in Zambia.
To deal with the challenge and in line with a call by the Maseru Think Tank made in 2006, Zambia’s National AIDS Council (NAC), the Ministry of Health, Health Communication Partnership (HCP) Zambia Society for Family Health (SFH) and the Zambia Centre for Communication Programmes (ZCCP) have partnered to launch One Love. Kwasila!
The national campaign aims to prevent HIV transmission through Multiple and Concurrent (sexual) Partnerships (MCP) in Zambia by providing basic information about the risks posed by MCP and generating thought and dialogue about social issues that make people decide to have more than one sexual partner.
The primary target audience of the campaign is married men age 25-50 years. The secondary target audience is women age 15-45 years (the wives and girlfriends of the primary target audience).
Club Risky Business
The centerpiece of the campaign is a wholly Zambian produced, innovative 10-part TV miniseries (short form), called Club Risky Business, which tells the story of MCP in an entertaining yet educational way.
The drama follows three male protagonists as they navigate their sexual networks and learn about the risks therein.
Each episode combines fictional narrative with relevant health messages and calls to action. Club Risky Business will air on ZNBC at 19h45 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays starting June 22 2009.
